Josephine Ortiz Merida is a multimedia Artist who attended Arizona State University, she majored in Intermedia Art with a concentration in Stop Motion Animation and minored in Film Media and Production. She is a committed artist who is passionate and energetic with a drive for utilizing team collaboration to foster ground-breaking creative projects. Josephine was born and raised in Mexico, her current body of work explores both art and technology, how they define and continue to reshape the world we live in, and re-imagining what we know.​​​​​​​
In 2o19, Josephine had the opportunity to intern at a Stop Motion Animation Studio in Mexico City, Cinema Fantasma. In this internship, Josephine was able to complete a stop motion certification, where she was trained in pre-production, production, and post-production stages.
Josephine was the winner of the Creative Constellation Grant and her work has been displayed at the Harry Wood Gallery, Arizona Latino Arts & Cultural Center, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Gallery 100, and Nelson Fine Arts Center. She loves collaborating with artists and to challenge herself on experimenting and combining different mediums. She aspires to be an installation artist and a Stop Motion puppet fabricator.
